"functionoverfashion" (functionoverfashion)

I know, I know, re-posting is kind of “frowned upon” but what about when I want to add updated info to a post I made, let’s say, yesterday? I made it on my personal blog (functionoverfashion.kinja etc) then shared to Oppo. I updated it, reset the time, and published it. Then hit ‘share to Oppo’ with today’s date and time but it didn’t do anything.
I seem to remember having to “unshare” then re-share, but can’t figure out how to do that now, despite having done it pretty recently I think. I mean, maybe it’s just Kinja adding and removing features at will. Or am I doing it wrong? !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Can’t be doing it as wrong as this guy, who tried to turn a tour bus around in a sandpit yesterday :

Yeah, that’s where there used to be a building, but since it was demo’d they just filled the hole with sand while they wait to decide what to do with it. Apparently it was NOT an honest mistake, the driver was warned not to turn around there. He probably thought, “stupid neighbor, what does he know, there’s plenty of room to turn around down there.” Room? Yes. Traction? Nah.

There’s always a few that seem to way overshare more than others.

There’s a timestamp on the share page (rather than the post itself). I’d assume that changing the time there would do the trick (but this is Kinja we are talking about).
Also, sharing rules for those too lazy to click the link at the top of the page :
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

the post’s time should be irrelevant to the share time.
i.e. I could take a post made in 2015 and share it to oppo, it would appear on the front page of oppo at the time of the share, the publish time of the original article will not matter .
by changing the publish time/date of the original article you might have set it to the future and that could be an issue, as in it might not allow you to share a future article?

That’s definitely how it used to work, or so I thought. I recently remember having to un-share and re-share a post. IDK

I thought so too. The post (on my page) is dated as of now (a few minutes ago now). But the share was yesterday. I did this and it didn’t seem to work:

Seems like it’s been good lately, but maybe it’s because Kinja is preventing multiple shares within a certain window. Maybe if you wait 24 hours or something it works. But it doesn’t give me an error, so... .

I sometimes reshare, usually if it’s something I’m proud of (put lots of work in, Oppo meet or good photos) and was originally posted at night or on a weekend.
Hopefully people don't have any issues with it

The “share” function hasn’t worked properly for me in over a year. It’s easier to just edit your post, ad “updated” or whatever somewhere in your title, and just reset the time and hit submit. Just bumps your edited post right to the top, no sharing necessary.

The updating and changing the time works if I posted it to Oppo to begin with. It seems not to work if I posted it to my blog first then shared to Oppo.

I think it’s fine on occasion, or when you’re adding and update to something rather than writing a whole new post... although I guess you could just link to the old one, too. I think it’s not working because I ‘shared’ to Oppo from my blog and didn’t ‘post’ directly to Oppo in the first place. Meh. No one cares that I love my new mountain bike anyway haha of course I love it, I BETTER love it.

Y ou can unpost something (i.e. save back to drafts) and then repost it somewhere else , but I don’t remember if the comments stay (it’s been too long).

I think it’s the “save to drafts” that I was thinking of as “un-publishing” - I don’t know if I’ll do that in this case, but I think you’re right.
